Integrated Report 2025

A Year of Growth, Stability and Strong Financial Performance

Alliance-Midmed Medical Scheme is pleased to share highlights from its first Integrated Report, providing members with an overview of the Scheme’s performance during the 2025 financial year.

Throughout the year, the Scheme remained focused on delivering quality healthcare while maintaining strong financial stability. Membership continued to grow, with primary membership increasing by 7.6%, reflecting the confidence that employees and retirees of Columbus Stainless and its affiliated companies continue to place in Alliance-Midmed.

The Scheme ended the year in a healthy financial position, recording a net surplus of R11.2 million and increasing total investable assets to more than R150 million. Although the solvency ratio decreased slightly to 55.64%, it remains well above the Council for Medical Schemes’ required minimum of 25%, ensuring the Scheme is financially secure and well positioned to meet future healthcare costs.

During 2025, Alliance-Midmed also focused on improving the member experience. A new telephony system was introduced to restore reliable communication after early-year disruptions, while the Scheme identified enhancements needed for its mobile app, including improved claims tracking and medication authorisation notifications. These improvements remain a priority going forward.

The Scheme continues to invest in proactive healthcare through its in-house managed care services, preferred provider networks and advanced technology. These initiatives help ensure members receive the right care at the right time while managing healthcare costs responsibly. Extensive automation also helps keep administration costs low, allowing more member contributions to be directed towards healthcare benefits.

Strong governance remains a key priority. The Board of Trustees continues to oversee the Scheme with a focus on transparency, compliance and protecting members’ interests. The 2025 financial statements received a clean audit opinion, providing further assurance that the Scheme’s financial reporting is accurate and reliable.

Looking ahead, Alliance-Midmed remains committed to strengthening its services, enhancing digital tools and maintaining the financial stability that enables the Scheme to continue providing quality healthcare cover for its members and their families.
